About Dosha

Ayurveda, and Ayurvedic Diet, is an ancient system of health care that has been practiced for thousands of years in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It has now become popular even in the western world.

The central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Health exists when there is a balance between these three Doshas.

  • Vata = Impulse         Mobilizes the nervous system
  • Pitta = Energy          Directs digestion and metabolism into the venous system
  • Kapha = Body fluid    Carrier of nutrients into our arterial system

Every person has all three doshas within themselves but one of them dominates at different times in our life. Different illnesses occur when there is an imbalance in the doshas. The right food and exercise can make all the difference. Different Dosha needs different things.

If your Doshas are in balance you will not have to think about matters such as losing weight because your body will adapt naturally. You will not have the urge to eat excessively or unhealthy because you will automatically listen to your body.

The key is to understand your body and knowing that every body is different. What’s good for my body doesn’t mean that it’s good for yours. After all we are all unique individuals. By knowing your Dosha you will begin to understand how your body works. Ayurveda believes that if you know your body you can stay healthy just by eating the kind of food that is right for your body as well as doing exercises that fits your body type.

Take the “Dosha Test” and learn what kind of food and exercise that is the best for you in order to stay healthy with a natural and automatic weight loss.
